The Manila Philharmonic Orchestra at Robinsons Magnolia

6 Dec

We caught the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra doing a mini concert last Sunday in Robinsons Magnolia as part of the mall’s Christmas shows. The conductor said that there were only half (or a third) of the orchestra members in attendance that afternoon but their music was, nevertheless, great.

They played a variety of songs ranging from Christmas songs and carols, classical, OPM, to modern. Too bad I was only able to record a few of them.

Some of the songs they played included Henry Mancini’s Moon River, Carol of the Bells, Katy Perry’s Firework, Lady Gaga’s Poker Face, Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe, Handel’s Messiah but the Hallelujah part was played as the OPM Hallelujah by Bamboo, a medley of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy (9th Symphony) and Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and lastly, the current popular Gangnam Style which was played with a classic twist.
